Next week the Belvárosi Sörfesztivál kicks off, with SPAR as the main sponsor again this year. With more than 250 kinds of beer, craft specialties from the best Hungarian breweries and international brands, the Belvárosi Sörfesztivál awaits visitors for six days between 29 August and 3 September 2023.
Craft beer, street food and music
A Belvárosi Sörfesztivál 2023 is not just about golden yellow or deep brown, frothy or silky smooth beers. This year’s event, which will take place on Budapest’s Szabadság Square from 29 August to 3 September, will feature a wide range of street food, music and concerts, and a DJ will provide quality music until the evening’s closing. This year, the organisers are also bringing a number of new features, including the best of the most prominent and renowned English breweries, while also showcasing some of the great old favourites and up-and-coming newcomers to the domestic flavoured beers and IPAs.
Festival Hippie IPA – based on your votes
The organisers have created the official beer of the festival again this year, the composition of which was voted for by beer fans on the event’s social media page. The winner of 2023 was the 5.6% Festival Hippie IPA based on a sabro-mosaic-amarillo hop combination with flavours that make you feel like you have a tropical fruit in your mouth. The speciality beer is available at the SPAR Sörház stand in 0.33dl cans and on draught, but of course you will also find it on the shelves of SPAR and INTERSPAR stores. And if you want a different taste, there are 15 different beers to choose from the Fehér Nyúl Turbid to the Szent András Napkincs, the Frootie Mangó IPA, the Grumpy Octopus, the Monyo Double Sour rise, the Mad Scientist JAM72, the West Coast, or even the Szia Uram!-serie which you can taste at the Spar Sörház.

For the second year in a row, the main sponsor of the event is SPAR Hungary, which supports the high quality beer culture in Hungary. SPAR is also offering a special promotion for festival-goers this year: if you buy over HUF 15,000 in SPAR, INTERSPAR and City SPAR stores between 10 and 23 August 2023, you will receive a coupon with which you can buy a uniquely designed festival glass with a 50% discount at the card-loading points in Szabadság Square, Budapest, during the opening hours of the event.
